Turn a lifetime of family photos into a heartfelt video — with motion, music, and memories. A tribute for a parent, a grandparent, anyone you love.
Tribute Reel is a MyHeritage feature built by a team. My part was the frontend: technical design, deciding which tools and approach made sense, building a PoC to validate it, and then implementing the full feature alongside my colleagues — a lot of it powered by AI.
Most families have a box of photos and no easy way to make them feel alive. Tribute Reel takes the photos you love and turns them into a heartfelt film — motion, music, and memories, generated for you.
You choose the people. The app does the hard part — sequencing, animating, and scoring the moments into something you'd actually want to share and keep.
It's not just a tech feature. It's about memories — the kind people actually care about keeping.
Worked out the frontend technical design and decided what made sense to use — the approach, the tools, the tradeoffs for generating video from photos on the web.
Prototyped early to prove the concept worked and felt right before the team committed to the full build.
Took it from prototype to shipped — a lot of it powered by AI — collaborating across the team to deliver the real, polished experience.
Tribute Reel is a newer feature and may not be available to everyone yet. The clearest look at it is MyHeritage's official announcement — see the post on LinkedIn ↗.
